MARSH BILBERRY, Red or Cranberry
It fights urinary tract infections, is an excellent antioxidant, and does not facilitate the life of bacteria.
It is a source of vitamin C, this fruit is among the best natural sources of antioxidants and appears to have protective properties for the bladder, the urinary tract (in particular it reduces the risk of bacterial infections) and seems to promote normal digestive function.
Besides cystitis, Cranberry is also studied for
Gout there is some scientific evidence on the ability of red cranberry to increase uric acid excretion and thus prevent or reduce gout attacks.
Cavities and oral infections: the polyphenolic fraction present in Cranberry has shown in vitro the ability to reduce oral bacterial adhesion of streptococcus, in a dose-dependent manner, of Candida albicans. Encouraging results have also been obtained, in vitro, on the prevention of periodontal disease
Helicobacter pylori ulcer: there are interesting in vitro results showing the anti-adhesive properties of Cranberry against H.pylori
Prostatitis and PSA: encouraging results were obtained in a test involving 42 men with prostate problems (but negative biopsy) and recurrent urinary infections. The administration of 1.5 g of Cranberry extract for 6 months led to a general improvement in symptoms and a reduction in PSA levels compared to the control group treated with placebo
