Based on Melilot, a herbaceous plant known as "honey for bees." According to studies, the plant contains coumarins and coumarin derivatives that exert anti-edematous and healing activities, making it useful in cases of venous insufficiency and lymphatic stasis. The main coumarin present is melitoside with vasoprotective activity, similar to the escin contained in horse chestnut. It contains flavonoids that have antiseptic and diuretic properties.

Hazelnuts are the seeds of Corylus avellana, a species native to Asia Minor now widespread in all temperate climate areas worldwide.

The beneficial properties of hazelnuts have been analyzed in studies associating them with cardiovascular benefits, particularly the reduction of total cholesterol, bad cholesterol, and the increase of good cholesterol and triglycerides. However, research conducted so far cannot be considered conclusive.

Hazelnuts are sources of oleic acid, alpha-linolenic acid, and palmitic acid and are cholesterol-free.

Vitamin E content is higher than in olive oil: 35 mg/100g compared to 11 mg/100g. Besides counteracting free radicals and aging due to its antioxidant power, Vitamin E plays an important role in protecting against oxidative processes and strengthens capillary walls.

In addition to Vitamin E, hazelnuts show good amounts of B vitamins (niacin and thiamine), particularly rich in Vit. B6. The nutritional value of hazelnuts is further enhanced by the significant presence of trace elements (iron, copper, zinc, and selenium) and other mineral compounds such as potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium.
