ISPAGHUL ( Plantago ovata)
Rich in mucilages, it supports the physiological intestinal transit, promoting normal volume and normal stool consistency, with a soothing and emollient action on the digestive system;
it modulates and limits the absorption of nutrients and supports the metabolism of lipids and carbohydrates.
It also has a prebiotic action, useful to promote the balance of the intestinal bacterial flora.
Immersed in water, the plant swells due to the hydrophilic properties of the mucilages of which the cuticle is rich, forming a gelatinous mass; when ingested it produces a gentle mechanical laxative action, stimulating peristalsis following hydration and the increase in volume of the fecal bolus, without irritating the intestine and without causing dependence, even with prolonged use.
